Who is eligible for the NDIS?

To be eligible for the NDIS, a person must be under 65 years of age, live in Australia, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects daily activities. Eligibility is assessed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

You can apply for the NDIS by submitting an Access Request to the NDIA. This usually involves providing personal details and medical or professional evidence that explains how your disability impacts your everyday life.

The NDIS may fund a wide range of disability support services, including daily living support, personal care, community participation, Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), and allied health services such as Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy, depending on individual plans.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides assistance for people who live independently or in shared accommodation and need help with daily tasks such as cooking, personal care, and household activities. SIL focuses on building independence while providing the right level of support.

SIL refers to support services provided to help with daily living, while SDA refers to specialised housing designed for people with high support needs or specific accessibility requirements. Some individuals may receive SIL supports while living in SDA housing, but they are funded separately

In many cases, yes. NDIS plans may include funding for Occupational Therapy to support individuals with daily activities, skill development, independence, and functional capacity, depending on assessed needs and plan approvals.

Yes, NDIS funding may be used for Speech Therapy where it is considered reasonable and necessary. Speech Therapy can support communication, swallowing, and social interaction for both children and adults.

Not always. While many people we support are NDIS participants, disability support services can also be accessed through private funding or while an NDIS application is in progress.

Yes. One of the key principles of the NDIS is choice and control, allowing participants to choose their service providers and supports that best suit their goals, preferences, and needs.

Getting started is simple. You can contact our team to discuss your needs, goals, and current supports. We will help guide you through available disability support services and explain the next steps clearly.
